A comprehensive range of Paramedical procedures are available at
the clinic. These are aesthetic treatments that will, in so many instances, provide long-term solutions in camouflaging or
disguising a variety of imperfections.
Areola/Nipple Restoration:
Used to re-create the appearance of the areola following breast reconstructive surgery. Lovely results can
be achieved with outer shading and darker definition of the nipple. This treatment can also benefit women who may have unevenly
shaped areola and those who have not had reconstructive surgery.
Colour, size, shape and position are part of the consultation
process between Alison and her clients.
Although this is a 'two-step' procedure, the results are visible after
the first appointment, and has a profoundly beneficial psychological affect as self-confidence is immediately restored after
a lengthy absence.
Breast Flap Camouflage:
This
procedure is usually carried out in conjunction with the above and helps disguise the appearance of the transplanted skin
used during the reconstructive surgery. The appearance of veins, moles, freckles etc can be mimicked, but sparingly, to give
an overall look of completeness.
Accident/Surgical Scar Camouflage:
This procedure can be carried out on virtually all accident or surgical scars, with the exception of keloid
or hyper-pigmented scars. Any scar should be white and fully healed.
A blend of pigments is made to match the client's
skin colour and tone, and then implanted into the scar.
Scar tissue does not repond in the same way as normal skin tissue,
and clients should realise that two or more appointments will be necessary to obtain the optimum results.
Scar Relaxation:
Where a scar is tight and inhibits movement, or creates puckering
of the surrounding skin, which may have contracted as well, scar relaxation can sometimes help to reduce the symptoms.
It is sometimes called 'dry-needling', for that is what happens. The needle is used in exactly the same way, but
without pigment. The action of the needle helps to ease the contracture by breaking down the cords of collagen and elastin
which form in the scar tissue.
Burns Scars:
Healed
burns are a very complex procedure to camouflage. When burned skin heals it has a very uneven and marbled effect, and the
client must have realistic expectations of improvement.
The treatment involves putting a 'wash' of colour into
the skin to create a more uniform look, whilst at the same time, the action of the tiny needles used helps to break down the
marbled look.
Skin transplants, similar to those used in breast reconstruction can also be blended outwards towards the
client's unaffected skin, thereby reducing the 'patched' appearance.
The Consultant's approval is required for this treatment.
Alopecia:
Alopecia sufferers very often lose definition to the face as there are no eyebrows or eyelashes,
leaving their face expressionless. This procedure helps to restore definition and expression. Particular attention is paid
to the placing of eyebrows as there are few gudelines to follow! Some soft definition to the eyeliner area would also be recommended.
There have been a number of instances where the action of the needles has stimulated hair re-growth.
This treatment
restores self-confidence, although it should be noted that all clients must have been in remission for two years before treatment
is suitable.
Vitiligo:
Vitiligo is a condition
where the natural pigment of the skin has been lost. There is no known cure and can have a devasting affect on the sufferer.
Micropigmentation can re-introduce the pigment back into the skin. Although this treatment is not suitable for large areas,
it is ideal for face, hands, feet and, in certain instances, personal or intimate areas. Pigments are blended to match the
client's skin colour and tone before being introduced.
Once again, the treatment leads to a return of self-confidence
in appearance. As with alopecia, two years remission is necessary to obtain the best results.
Scalp Camouflage/Restoration:
After hair transplant, when the donor site 'plug
scars' become visible, or if hair has been 'seeded' onto the scalp in straight lines, this treatment offers a
disguise to the work carried out. This is achieved by either camouflaging the 'plug scars', or by applying tiny dots
or hair strokes to create a more natural appearance.
Pigment Correction/Removal
(Tattoo Removal):
Whilst not strictly a Paramedical procedure, it may only be carried out by
an advanced practitioner.
Correction and removal procedures are carried out when a client presents with incorrectly applied
permanent make-up, which has gone wrong.
The advanced practitioner uses a specially formulated gel to implant into the
existing pigment. The gel breaks down the pigment, which is then drawn to the surface to be washed away with a saline solution.
Depending on the client's wishes, the permanent make-up can then be correctly re-applied.
In much the same way, small
tattoos (body art) can be removed. It offers an alternative to laser treatment, and has a greater effect on the coloured pigments
in a tattoo than a laser. Certainly more than one apoointment will be necessary.
